“We have been attending the Cyprus School of Gastronomy since the beginning. It is our monthly treat where we meet friends, new and old, and of course, where we learn so much from Chef George. The highlight is when we get to eat all the delicious food that he has demonstrated and cooked. The new venue Monkfish this year (2019) is Chef George’s and wife Jaana’s very own fine seafood restaurant, which continues to serve us their delicious food and impeccable service – long may it continue!”

“It was such a privilege to be in the company of such a great chef and a gentleman: Master Chef George Halkides, who showed us step by step what a joy good cooking can be. The chef really involved us with plenty of sniffing and tasting and even a little filleting, it was really special.”

“It was great that we had the opportunity of participating and trying the food during the preparation process. I also found the fee excellent value for money. I will certainly recommend the class to interested cooks. One thing is certain, the seafood dishes I learnt to cook with the brilliant chef are sure to please my own guests. He gave us his incredible gift of taking wonderful, fresh ingredients and turning them into rich presentations of succulent, mouth-watering cuisine. I took home a wealth of tips that I will definitely use in my own cooking process. Not to mention, memories of the nice surroundings and my fantastic fellow students. Thanks for making cooking so much fun!”
“I enjoyed the seafood culinary demonstration very much. The lesson offered to my surprise not only cooking of prawns, mussels, calamari and octopus, it included fish such as sea bass, tuna and mackerel. We learnt the best ways how to store the different types, got hints about freezing and thawing and cutting whole fish to fillets. We had the opportunity to fillet a fish after the formal instruction by the chef. We cleaned and cut prawns, octopus and calamari and learned the techniques that influence the final cooking process. After preparing different interesting recipes together, we learnt how to smoke fish which was an extra highlight on the day before we all enjoyed a great meal of our cooked seafood whilst discussing between ourselves the hints, tips and cooking methods we had learned from a wonderful, professional and very experienced Master Chef. The enthusiasm of Master Chef George Halkides alongside his passion to share his knowledge and techniques with the participants is most definitely a feature of the event.”
“Master Chef George Halkides offers a unique opportunity for curious hobby chefs and all those who want to get an inside view of the professional art of cooking, to watch and take part in the preparation of various dishes. Afterwards the prepared food can be tasted and enjoyed in an elegant atmosphere. Always relaxed and good-humoured, the Master Chef leads his group through the morning, starting from the perfect preparation of the ingredients, on to step-by-step instructions of the cooking process, to the final presentation of the food. In the course of his demonstrations, he uncovers secrets of his cooking, gives tips for shopping for the ingredients and also explains local herbs and spices that will create the special scents and aromas of each dish. Questions are welcome, as well as actively participating and practising skills for preparing the dishes, such as the filleting of fish and the filling of courgette flowers with an aromatic rice filling. Very delicious! All the participants can taste the dishes afterwards at the dining table. Participants just can't wait to get home and try the recipes for themselves.”
"I can thoroughly recommend the school. Master Chef George Halkides is extremely knowledgeable, well organised and very well prepared. During the demonstration, he invites questions and participation and most importantly, he makes it all fun. All this and we ate the delicious food afterwards overlooking a stunning location. It was very difficult to choose a favourite dish - they were all so delicious. I learned a lot and laughed a lot - it's a winning combination!"
The response from the IHRA International Hotels and Restaurants Association Dr. Ghassan, referring to the project Gastronomy Cyprus, which aims to revive the local food producing villages and encourage tourism to experience the real gastronomy in Cyprus, was; “excellent idea, bravo, finally someone is taking care about Gastronomy in Cyprus. Good luck, ready to help!”
